The Windsor-Essex Children's Aid Society (WECAS) is one of EssexCounty's largest employers of social workers.
We welcome applications for child protection positions from individuals possessing Bachelor's (BSW) or Master's (MSW) degrees in Social Work. Those with other educational qualifications, such as a Bachelor's (BA) of Arts or a Master's (MA) degree in a relevant discipline, and have employment or volunteer experience in the field of child welfare, may also be considered.
Relevant Bachelor's or Master's degrees include:
· Family and Social Relations
· Education
· Psychology
· Sociology
· Nursing
Experience in the following areas are considered an asset:
· Case management
· Child development
· Child and family assessment
· Crisis Intervention Counselling
· Mediation
Employees of WECAS are required to:
· Be clear of any criminal convictions
· Possess a valid driver's license
· Own a reliable vehicle for business use
Child protection workers participate in the government-mandated New Worker Training program which is regulated by the Ministry of Children & Youth Services. New workers also undergo a probationary period & have regular performance appraisals in order to ensure that our children receive the best protection we can offer.
